Take advantage of the knowledge we had to pay for with blood, sweat, tears and student loans
CFP©, Advisor, Coach, and Nerd/Boss
David is the guy with the last name everyone could remember; hence Littlejohn Financial. But the company has always stood for team. Between our personnel, our clients, and our families, Littlejohn Financial is all about people. And if you know David, you know this to be true.
David is on our investment committee, executive committee, and serves as Principal and Chief Executive Officer for Littlejohn Financial.
If he’s not in the office, you can find David balancing time between his family, community service (not court ordered, thankfully), and learning new stuff (it’s the curse of being an idea person).
You can also catch him on the radio each week, on YouTube, or blogging somewhere or other… usually about financial stuff… but not always. Because, as David will tell you, “money is important, but True Wealth is about memories and relationships… the money is just how we trade our time.”
Specialties include: Investment expertise, financial planning, business consulting, useless trivia, dad jokes
David is also a Certified Financial Planner ™
Advisor, Coach, and Capitán
Holistic is an understatement.
Wes has the uncanny ability to help people expand horizons. He is a natural coach, encourager, and planner. You can count on a conversation going deeper than money. Wes can help you discover the ‘why’ behind what you’re doing… then help you do it even better.
Wes is on our investment committee, executive committee, and manages our Salem branch office.
Our ‘Captain,’ Wes has a passion for sailing, and enjoys weekend getaways on his sailboat (although when the weather warms up you can catch him behind the boat wakeboarding too).
Wes and his wife Paula also share a passion for personal fitness and health coaching. So, did we mention holistic?
Specialties include: Investment expertise, financial planning, health and wellness, life coaching, and a fantastic belly laugh.
Associate Advisor & Dog Whisperer
The man. The myth. The legend.
Justin serves as an associate wealth advisor and planner for LjFS. He is also a part of our Investment Advisory Committee helping to review all the positions in our portfolios and making sure to stay up on the latest trends in the market.
In his spare time, you can find Justin either a) in the office, b) on the golf course, or c) teaching his dog new tricks. On the weekends you will find Justin hanging out with his family.
He is also responsible for lowering the overall handicap of the non-existent LjFS Golf Team.
Specialties include: Investment expertise, insurance expertise, silently disappearing in a crowd before anyone notices.
Associate Advisor, Fisherman & Craftsman
Matt is a guy with a wide variety of talents. After completing college, Matt went on to teach mathematics and construction for 8 years before finding his love for the stock market and wealth management.
Matt serves a crucial role in our investment committee meetings. Each week, he brings a ton of new data and numbers for the group to synthesize. Always social and very personable, Matt loves to meet with clients.
A former basketball player and high-jumper, he stands tall at 6’6” and isn’t afraid to leap over any obstacle in his way.
You can often find Matt spending his free time doing one of two things: he is either on his boat catching salmon and steelhead, or camping in the tiny house he built for weekend getaways.
Matt and his wife Cheyenne are often seen jogging through town with their golden retriever/lab, “Chester.” If you happen to see them, make sure to honk!
Specialties include: investment advice, client communications and sneaking out of the office early to launch his boat.
Client Advocate & Sergeant At Arms
Shannon is our resident t crosser and i dotter. And while this may sound trivial, it is anything but.
The financial industry is heavily regulated. Having someone that minds all the details is mission critical. And Shannon is up to the task.
She probably would have made an excellent Catholic School Teacher, except she’s just too nice and too fun (nothing against Catholic School Teachers). Instead, we get to benefit from her charm and attention to detail.
If you think Shannon is a stickler, don’t worry. We have it on good authority she occasionally exceeds the speed limit and DOES NOT cruise in the left lane. She also likes sports. So she’s cool.
Specialties include: hyper-accurate bookkeeping, punctuality, risk management, and a strong sense of justice.
Air Traffic Controller & Finder of Stuff
If you call the main number, there’s a good chance Heather is the first person you’ll speak with.
Heather is the communications quarterback for Littlejohn Financial. From connecting clients with resources to managing technology and service vendors, she’s the real deal. If you need to find the stuff, Heather can get it done.
When she’s not wrangling resources, Heather likes to play with her GIANT dogs… or get outside… or get outside and play with her GIANT dogs. You get the idea.
Specialties include: Customer Service, Keeper of all things calendar, Food adventuring, and semi-politely reminding everyone again and again when they don’t get their stuff done (in a good way).
Independence - from Wall Street and Large Firms
While LjFS has access to the same types of tools and resources of large firms, it is a boutique in the financial world. It is an independent Registered Investment Advisor in Oregon. Independence is a critical part of the LjFS culture. There is no large firm, no sales quotas, no proprietary "product" or investment banking relationship, and no pie charts. Put simply, LjFS exists to serve our clients and meet their needs. Our strength is not in the size of our firm but in the size of our network or resource. We offer the personalized and customized services of a boutique with the solutions of the largest firms out there. It truly is the best of both worlds for our clients - independent, flexible, capable, and personal.
Our Clients - why we exist
Confidentiality - money is personal, and it stays that way
Unless you tell us otherwise, your finances are your business and yours alone. You can count on LjFS to protect your privacy.
Education - the cornerstone of any successful investment strategy
One of the strengths of LjFS is the commitment to education; both of our staff and clients. We feel strongly that investors should not invest in anything they cannot understand. However, investing can be sophisticated and complex at times. One of the greatest demonstrations of trust is a client that simply entrusts their assets to us to "take care of the details" and free themselves to focus on other passions. But LjFS is committed to taking whatever time is necessary to help our clients fully understand each and every nuance of an investment strategy.
Planning - It's 10:30 Wednesday morning. You're 62 years old. What are you doing?
Most of us have dreams. The questions is what are you doing about them? At LjFS we view our role as both coach and partner. Our goal is to help our clients reach their goal - thus our mission: to help clients make the financial leap from dreaming to doing. To do this you first have to examine where you want to be when you grow up. Next, you map out the steps to get there (and no, this is not a formula). Finally, you begin the journey, recognizing there will be obstacles and detours - perhaps even changes to the destination - but taking deliberate steps to get closer and closer to those dreams.
Investing - if the plan is the chassis, investing is the engine
It's been said you work for your money, so make sure your money works for you. Ultimately part of almost every financial strategy involves investing in some form to put money to work. At LjFS, we follow a few simple rules: don't take any more risk than is required to meet an investment objective; be willing to sell an investment while you still have a profit; avoid large losses; and use discipline rather than emotion to guide our decision making process.
True Currency - the memories and friendships we build over a lifetime
Money buys stuff, and that's important. But at the end of the day, money is what we trade our time for. The "stuff" is temporary. Our staff and clients understand that "making money" is not an investment objective. Making money is the product of the strategy, but the investment objective is driven by true currency. It's the only thing we can take with us at the end of the day.
Faith - the fundamental principles that drive us
LjFS is an inclusive professional organization and we celebrate the differences that make us great. Our mission is to help anyone. But at it's core, LjFS strives to be a patriotic and Christian organization. This is not because we are on a mission to convert others and spread our faith, but simply to share the foundation of the fundamental principles that shape our investment philosophies: stewardship, responsibility, and accountability. Your opinions - similar, different, or otherwise - are absolutely welcome. We won't beat you with a Bible, and we certainly know we're not perfect. But we're committed to improving, and you have permission to hold us to a high standard.
Family - it makes us tick
One of the highest values we hold at LjFS is family. In fact, in many respects, we consider our clients to be an extension of our family. We love hearing the stories about kids, grand kids, vacations, and other treasured moments. Money is remarkably personal. A trusting and meaningful relationship is the only way we know to help our clients. So we treat them the way we hope to be treated... like part of the family.
Fun - a little word with big importance
Life is full of responsibilities and pressures. We can't make them go away, but we can do our best to make them more enjoyable. And fun is part of it. Working with LjFS should be more than a pile of papers and numbers. If you're going to "join the family", we hope to smile and laugh together... A lot. We try to start by setting a good example.
